Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence

The opportunities for smirking are immense. Not only did Blair lose a Commons vote (again), but he lost through his own indifference. So this Bill, which he really believes is necessary, gets a little neutered because he can’t be arsed to vote.

So, that’s two defeats for the government. As Goldfinger suggests: Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.

It would please me greatly if the third occasion scuppered ID cards, but I’m not that picky. Considering that I’m not that fond of most of his proposals to start with…
