As much as I like slagging off insurance companies, I have to hand it to them on this one: within two weeks of me contacting them about recent unpleasantness, the work I’d requested has been done. New door, new paint job, new windows, new window frames.

Which makes the place look a helluva lot tidier. More south Belfast than west, thankfully…

Of course, there is a downside. For a start, there’s an excess to pay. And on top of that, I’ve had bills in this week for renewal of house insurance, car insurance and travel insurance. The only bright side is that all three come to less than the value of the work done to the house this week…
