I am now officially back. I will do some form of summary of the whole trip at osme point, when I’m not rendered totally useless by the jet lag.
However, I’ll link to something that made it all worthwhile for me. As some of you may know, I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to military hardware (see this for an example). And, boy, did Arizona have more that it’s fare share. We had to wait in Tucson airport for a few hours last Monday, which was the afternoon after Bush had visited the place. So there was a fair bit of activity over at Davis-Monthan AFB, near to the airport. Which meant that I got to watch lots of formation flying, combat take-offs and air-to-air training by pilots of F-15s and -16s. Which was very nice. What was nicer was, on the last proper day, I dragged everyone round Pima Air & Space Museum.
This would probably bore many, many people, but I loved it. There was a tour of Kennedy’s original Air Force One, and there was a huge space, filled with loads of big planes capable of dropping very big bombs. B-52s, F-4s, F-5s, F-6s, F-14s, F-15s, A-6Es, A-7s, the lot. And, of course, two of my all time favourite aircraft ever: the A-10 and the SR-71.

I was in hog heaven, I’m telling you. You may ridicule starting…… now.
A-10s and SR 71s? No ridiculing from me.. both damn good aircraft.
your pichures are borked
My pictures are working fine on my versions of IE, Opera and Moz, so the problem may be at your end.
Oh, and I’m wviting this from me ma’s new palmtop. I like. More new gadgets in the union…
I’ve heard a couple of brilliant SR-71 stories. The shorter one being. SR-71 radios London ATC “Blah requesting move to flight level 610″, L ATC “Hah you can have it if you can reach it.”, SR-71 “Roger decending to flight level 610″. The other one is slightly better but a bit long.
