It’s sad that it needed to be said

I don’t know what’s going on with Emma Thompson these days, but it appears that she’s going off the rails somewhat and just saying what she thinks instead of what talkshow people want to hear. A few weeks ago it was either the Isle of Wight or the Isle of Man that was in the line of fire. And now she’s annoyed by people speaking like tools.

She said: “We have to reinvest, I think, in the idea of articulacy as a form of personal human freedom and power.”

Ms Thompson added that on a visit to her old school she told pupils not to use slang words “because it makes you sound stupid, and you’re not stupid”.

She said: “There is the necessity to have two languages – one that you use with your mates and the other that you need in any official capacity. Or you’re going to sound like a knob.”

That’s amazing; that we’ve got to a place where people benefit from actually being told that they would benefit from having a grown up voice and one they use with their mates.

Now, I’ll have to learn that myself, the last meeting I went to went a bit sour after I went all LOLz!!!1! at them…
