Plans for allowing the German railway company to run direct trains from St Pancras to the continent continue apace. Which is nice.
German train operator Deutsche Bahn says it will run direct services from London to Frankfurt and Amsterdam from 2013.
A train similar to the ones to be used will be displayed at London St Pancras station on Tuesday.
Three services will run daily, and will also serve Brussels, Cologne and Rotterdam.
This would be properly excellent; I’ve already mentioned that I’m a fan of travel through the Chunnel, what with it being a bit more civilised than the security theatre allows flight to be these days. So if they can roll that out to more places that Paris (been there, done that) and Brussels (have you seen the station there?), then I’m all in favour.
Unfortunately it seems we’ll be waiting to 2013. Boo.
